Heritage Flight
The
USAF Heritage Flight program was established in 1997 in support of the Air
Force's 50th anniversary. It involves today's state-of-the-art fighters
flying in close formation with World War II and Korean War vintage fighters
such as the P-51 Mustang and the F-86 Sabre. Its mission is to safely and
proudly display the evolution of United States Air Force Airpower and to
support the Air Force's recruiting and retention efforts.
The Heritage Flight at Warbirds In Action will feature an F-16 Fighting
Falcon from the Viper West Demo Team from Hill AFB, and P-51 Mustang “Six
Shooter” piloted by Chuck Hall.

Eddie Andreini Aerobatics
With
more than 25 years of air show experience behind him, Eddie Andreini is
highly respected as the consummate professional in his mighty biplane. There
are only a few pilots flying the big "bull" Stearman on the air show
circuit, but there are none that can extract the thrilling performance from
the huge 500 hp Pratt & Whitney-powered airplane like Eddie Andreini!
Eddie's 2nd aerobatic demonstration at Warbirds In Action will be
in his new Russian Yak-9 “Red October”. This new airplane replaces Eddie’s
previous red Yak “Barbarosa”. The Yak-9 is a 430+ mph aircraft, and Eddie
will show off its capabilities in the skies over Minter Field. |

Collings Foundation B17 &
B24
The Collings Foundation is a non-profit, Educational Foundation, founded in
1979. The purpose of the Foundation is to organize and support "living
history" events that enable Americans to learn more about their heritage
through direct participation.
Since 1989, a major focus of the Foundation has been the Veterans' "Wings of
Freedom Tour."
This
tour showcases a fully restored WWII Consolidated B-24J Liberator,
originally named "All American" in tribute to a B-24J that flew in the
European Theater.
In 1999, it was re-painted as "Dragon and His Tail" to honor our Pacific
Theater veterans. This year, it was repainted in the colors of the European
Theater as “Witchcraft”,
a B-24
assigned to the 467th Bomb Group, 790th Squadron,
that compiled an amazing record of 130 combat missions.
The tour also features the Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress "Nine-O-Nine", the
companion of the B-24 in thousands of wartime, bombing, and reconnaissance
missions.

ME 109 (Hispano)
The
Me-109 was the best known and most produced German fighter of World War II.
It was the backbone of the German fighter command and ruled the skies over
Europe from 1939 to 1941, as Hitler spread his empire over the continent.
The Me-109s earned the respect of Germany's enemies in every theater of
conflict and were greatly feared by Allied bomber crews during the later
half of the war. Designed by Willie Messerschmitt in 1934, the Bf 109 was
first flown in September 1935.
The HA-1112
airframe is a Spanish-built version of the famous Messerschmitt ME-109G
fighter. As no German engines were available after 1945, early postwar
versions of this aircraft were powered by the Spanish Hispano-Suiza engine.
Later versions used the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, although there were nine
different Spanish variants using either of the two engines. The aircraft had
a top speed of 414 mph. |
